Ocean Seeders
Restoration - A Pathway to Food Security
Consulting, Education & Support
Service Description
Kelp forests—the natural habitat of salmon and countless marine species—are under severe threat. In Tasmania, Australia, 95% of these forests have already vanished due to human impacts. Although the technical know-how for cultivating kelp on lines exists, only a small number of people have ever had access to it. Ocean Seeders was founded to remove that barrier and empower coastal communities with the self-sufficiency and self-reliance they deserve. With accessible technology, people of all ages can become responsible Ocean Farmers and Restorers, sharing knowledge and skills within a supportive community. Early adopters—such as students in more affluent schools—can twin with students in less-resourced communities, sharing their experience and learning side-by-side with ocean experts. Together, they can build and spread ocean literacy, strengthen resilience to climate change, and grow a pathway to food security.
